Technical design of this website
Fonts and images are served directly through this website’s hosting. Its code includes no analytics tools, advertising trackers, embedded third-party videos or contact forms. The language is selected through the page URL and does not require cookies.
Hosting and server logs
This website is operated using Vercel Inc., a hosting provider based in the United States. Its server functions run in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Vercel also uses internationally distributed infrastructure. Requests involve processing your IP address, the requested URL and technical connection data to deliver the website, identify errors and prevent attacks. Requests per IP address are limited to protect access. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of this personal website.
This does not guarantee processing exclusively in Germany or the EU.
Vercel states in its privacy notice that it participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For international data transfers, Vercel also refers to standard contractual clauses or other appropriate transfer mechanisms where required.
Under the hosting plan used, runtime logs of server functions are available for one hour. This is not a general deletion period for all data processed by Vercel. For other operational and security data, Vercel bases retention on the relevant purpose and legal and contractual requirements; according to the provider, data is then deleted or anonymised.
Further information: Vercel privacy notice and runtime log retention.
Contact by email
An email link opens your email application. When you send a message, your data is processed by your email provider and the recipient. The website itself does not store the message. Your sender address, message and any attachments are used to respond to your enquiry under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (responding to enquiries), or Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contractual matters. Messages are deleted when no longer needed for their purpose, unless statutory retention requirements apply.
External links
University, project and publisher websites are accessed only when you follow their links. Their respective providers’ privacy notices apply.
Right to object
Where processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Article 21 GDPR). Please use the contact details above.

Subject to the General Data Protection Regulation, rights may include access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. For enquiries about the processing of your data, please use the contact details above.
